A new ‘Phone First’ service for Northern Ireland is being trialled across a number of Emergency Departments (ED) including Causeway ED.

The ‘Phone First’ service will ensure patients can get direct access to the right care, avoid busy Emergency Departments and stay safe.

Nurse Practitioners

Mrs J Moore

The Practice has been extremely fortunate to have been allocated a Trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) by our local GP Federation. Over the next two years our ANP Mrs Jenni Moore will be completing her Masters Degree in Advanced Nursing at Ulster University, Tynan Surgery and another local GP surgery.

Our ANP will be supporting the doctors by providing patient consultations and helping with home visiting.

Appointments with ANP can be booked either in advance or on the day.  At present Mrs Moore is available on Mondays and Fridays.

Our ANP is highly experienced in primary care and is able to help with most problems including infant and children’s health, women’s health issues, acute conditions such as infection, pain, headache, musculoskeletal problems, skin problems and long term conditions such as respiratory problems and Diabetes.

Our ANP will be working very closely with the GP partners who will be available to give support and advice when needed.

Nurses

Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes and carries out cervical smears.



Currently there is one part time Practice Nurse and 3 part time treatment room nurses that work in the practice.



A part time Health Care Assistant works in the Treatment Room. Duties include taking bloods, BP checks, Flu vaccinations and general health advice including height, weight and urinalysis.
